In case you don’t know already, we’re a privately-held company that specializes in the wholesale importation—including the distribution and sales—of fruit juices (both from and not from concentrate), fruit purees/pulps and related by-products. Just think of us as your modern-day fruit ninjas. Orange you excited about all this juice business?
Puns aside, Purkel has been a supplier for the global food and beverage market for over 40 years, and we have the air miles to prove it. The primary markets we serve are: Canada, USA, Mexico, Europe, South Africa and Japan.

Purkel is a federally inspected and licensed importer of fruit and vegetable juices and purees under the Safe Food for Canadians Act.
In order to gain and maintain this license, Purkel is required to ensure that the fruit and vegetable juices and purees are safe to consume and meet Canadian requirements for food safety. They must be prepared with the same level of food safety controls as foods prepared in Canada. This is done by preparing Preventive Control Plans with Traceability and Recall requirements. Preventative controls help prevent food safety hazards and hazardous products from entering the Canadian market.

Grapefruit
Our grapefruit juice is made using Rio Red and Rio Star grapefruits, which produce a beautiful, deep red and unusually sweet juice compared to other grapefruit varieties grown in the USA and Mexico. Rio Star grapefruits can only grow in Texas due to the soil and climate in the Rio Grande Valley. Purkel is fortunate enough to be the exclusive distributor of the incredible Rio Red grapefruit products produced at Rio Grande Juice (formerly the Texas Citrus Exchange) since 1994 to the Canadian market. Our USA office based in Florida works very closely with the Rio Grande Juice team to service and handle sales and distribution for the American, European and Japanese markets.
Orange
Loaded with vitamin C and highly nutritious, oranges are popular due to their natural sweetness. We import orange juice products made from Pera oranges primarily from Brazil. We also source specialty juices such as 100% Valencia juice, low pulp and clarified juices from Mexico and Florida. Orange juice concentrate was the foundation of our company and needless to say, it's always in stock in one—if not all—of our warehouses.
Apple
Whether it's raw material apple product to make juice for the kids, hard apple cider for the grown ups or baked apple pie for dessert (if you're well-behaved), we have you covered thanks to the 2003 joint-marketing partnership Purkel entered into with Topfoods. Since 2020, we are now picking and processing our own Fuji, Gala, Royal and Granny Smith apples. We can provide you with juices ready to drink—in concentrate form or puree from other origins such as Europe and South America as well.
Lemon & Lime
When life gives us lemons, we juice them (and keep the pulp and oils from the peel too)! As great sources of Vitamin C, our Eureka lemons are grown in central Mexico together with locally grown with Thaiti, Key and Persian (Citrus Latifola Tanaka) limes. Purkel also works closely with key lemon processors in Argentina and imports Sicialian variety lemon concentrates, pulps and oils. We’re proud to introduce our newest partner, S.A. Veracruz, in Tucaman, Argentina—our teams have partnered together to service the global market.
Mango
Mango Lassi anyone? Our Totapuri and Alphonso Mango purees are produced by Exotic Fruits—our partner in India. With Exotic Fruits, we can even produce guava and papaya purees. Our partnership together is a great example of Purkel’s success in building long-term and exclusive processing relationships. Purkel proudly supplies Exotic Fruits mango products to the baby food, ice cream, juice, baking and sauce/dressing industries.
